Description
Worcester, Visit of George III silvered medalet Halfpenny 1789, bust right of George III, rev. crowned
shield containing 6-line legend, edge scalloped, 24.75mm/4.15gm. (DH 33). Another similar with slightly
different spacing and brass, 25mm/3.66gm. (DH 34). Another similar but minor differences, 25mm/3.9gm.
(DH 35). Another almost the same and silvered, 24.75mm/4.14gm. (DH 36). Another gilded with the
initials IB below the bust, rev. musical instruments under a crown and dated 1788, 26mm/3.75gm.
(DH 37). Another almost the same but silvered with DAVIES under bust, 30.25mm/3.9gm. (DH 38)
another the same but brass, 35mm/3.75gm. (DH 38). Another but obv. legend in different position,
25.5mm/4.37gm. (DH39). Another the same but silvered, 25.5mm/3.94gm. (DH 39). Another similar
with period in rev. legend and in brass, 24.5mm/4.16gm. (DH 40), DH 35, 36, 38 brass, 39 gilded, and 40
good Extremely Fine with lustre, rest generally Extremely Fine but with small amounts of cabinet friction and
some loss of plating, all generally scarce to rare. [10]
DH 33, 34 and 38 silvered ex F S Cokayne Col., his tickets – DH 33 bought 22 Aug for 6d.; DH 34 bought 5 Nov 1903 for 3/-.; DH
38 bought 4 Feb 1904 for 2/6. Acquired AHB c. 1946.
