Cpl Of H: W.H. Lowman. 2/L: Gds:) engraved naming, Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, EDVII, (1583 Sq: Cpl Maj. W.H. Lowman. 2nd Life Gds.), Meritorious Service Medal, GVR, (2982 Q.M. Cpl. Mjr W.H. Lowman. 2/L. Gds), all toned, “Gds” on QSA worn, otherwise fine (3)

William Henry Lowman was born in Windsor c. 1867an Assistant School Master aged 22 when he joined the 2nd Life Guards on the 5th of August 1887. He served in South Africa from the 29th of November 1899 to the 5th of October 1900., he was Discharged from the Army on the 4th of August 1908. He received the Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in Army Orders 90, 1st of April 1906 and was Recommended for the MSM with Gratuity on the 17th of September 1908, he had served exactly 21 years. He re-enlisted into the 2nd Life Guards on the 1st of September 1914 and served Home from the 1st of September 1914 to the 28th of April 1919, a further 4 years 240 Days Service with The Colours. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in the London Gazette of the 3rd of June 1919. He died on the 21st of September 1942 aged 77 years a “retired Quarter Master Corporal of Horse 2nd Life Guards”.
