Description
Queen’s South Africa Medal, 1899-1902 seven clasps, Belmont, Modder River, Paarderberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Belfast, awarded to Private, later Lance Corporal Frank Rhodes Coldstream Guards, (337 Pte F. Rhodes, Coldstm: Gds:), impressed naming very fine. (1)
Frank Rhodes, an 18 year old labourer from Sheffield enlisted into the Coldstream Guards on the 28th of November 1895, he served in South Africa, his only overseas posting, from the 21st of October 1899 to the 20th of July 1902, He was demobilised on the 27th of November 1907 after 12 years with the Colours, he re-enlisted on the 2nd of December 1907 for four further years with Section D.
