The DSO and Great War Archive of Brevet Colonel Charles Sydney Collison, 1st Battalion Middlesex and 11th (Service) Battalion Warwickshire Regiment who was the Commanding Officer and author of “The 11th Royal Warwicks in France1915-1916” which was presented to the Imperial War Museum in 1928, the archive seems to be all of his maps, notes and letters from which he wrote the History of the Battalion, comprising Distinguished Service Order GVR, unnamed as issued, Queen’s South Africa Medal, 2nd type, no ghost dates visible, 4 clasps, Orange Free State, Transvaal, Laing’s Nek, Cape Colony, (Capt. C.S. Collison. Middx. Rgt.), 1914-15 Star, (Lt. Col. C.S. Collison. Midd’x R.), 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals with Mentioned in Despatched emblem, (Lt. Col. C.S. Collison.), contemporarily mounted for wear, very fine (5)

Charles Sydney Collison was born on the 28th of April 1871 in Cape Town, South Africa. He was Commissioned, 2nd Lieutenant, into the Mancahets Regiment in September 1890, transferred to the Middlesex Regiment in October 1892, promoted to Lieutenant October 1895 and Captain March 1900. He served in South Africa being awarded the Queen’s South Africa Medal with 4 clasps, He served in France from 1915 as Lieutenant Colonel and Commanding Officer of the 11th (Service) Battalion Warwickshire Regiment. He was awarded the DSO in 1916
