Description
Victoria (1837‑1901), Crown, 1845, cinquefoil stops, young filleted head left, W WYON. RA raised on truncation, date below, toothed border surrounding both sides, legend surrounds VICTORIA DEI GRATIA. Crowned quartered shield of arms within laurel wreath, reads BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID DEF, edge inscription with cinquefoil stops, DECUS ET TUTAMEN ANNO REGNI VIII (S.3882; ESC. 282; Bull 2564). Toned with reflective fields, red undertone in places when held to good light, some obverse scratches and few scrapes. Rev, little edge irregularities or chips, fields clear. Otherwise a strong level of definition in the portrait, bold very fine, well struck.
