Description
Roman (c. 2nd Century AD) Bird brooch, copper‑alloy and silver plated (43x23mm, 9.69g). A copper-alloy, zoomorphic plate brooch in the form of a bird with curved wings and trapezoidal tail, with some silver plating remaining. Wings and tail are decorated with blue and red enamel. The back of the brooch bears loop with remainder of pin, and damaged catch-plate. Much enamel lost. Pin missing. Some damage, otherwise a delightful piece.
