Germany, Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel-Lüneburg, August II the Younger (1635‑1666), silver Quadruple Taler, 1666, Zellerfeld, mint master: Henning Schlüter, commemorating the death of August, withered tree with a skull at base. Rev. Inscription in the field in eleven lines, legend around, 115.80g (Dav. 92; Welt. 789; KM 489). In PCGS holder graded AU 55 (49039210). The finest and only one known in the PCGS census. Variety without value hallmark. Extremely rare. Only one other seen on the auction market in the last 20 years of the quadruple variety.
