Charles I (1625‑1649), AR Shilling 1644, Exeter mint, mm. rose. Large crowned bust left of coarse style, rev. Royal Arms in garnished oval shield, initial mark divides date, CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO, I reign under the auspice of Christ. 5.89g/2h (Besly C10; SCBI Brooker 1061, this coin; N 2573; S 3085). Small indentation in front of face and legends weak in places, otherwise Extremely Fine with a superb portrait and very attractively and evenly toned, rare.
