Harold II (6 January ‑ 14 October 1066), Penny, PAX type, likely Nottingham mint, moneyer Manna. Crowned head left, sceptre in front, +HAROLD EX AN, outer beaded circle surrounding both sides. Rev, PAX between parallel beaded horizontal lines, inner beaded circle surrounding, legend commences lower left, +MANNA ON […], 1.35gm (S. 1186; N. 836). Good Very Fine, portrait well struck on undulating flan. Likely Nottingham mint (very rare mint for type).

With A. H. Baldwin & Sons letter dated 2nd January 1950, explaining that “this moneyer only struck for Nottingham and it seems likely that your coin is a Nottingham coin though the space for the mint is hardly big enough to take the known readings. However, it may well be a new reading.”
