While many Marvel and DC fans today only know their heroes through billion-dollar film franchises, the true "origin story" belongs to the artists and writers who pioneered these characters in the 1930s, ‘40s, '50s, and '60s.
It is easy to forget that comics once occupied the same cultural space as today’s streaming giants. They were the primary engine of global entertainment - a bygone era when fans across the world waited with bated breath for the next issue of Spider-Man in the same way we now count down the days until a new season of Daredevil drops on our screens.
The debut of the ‘Northern Collection’ - which achieved over £67,000 in its first outing - proves that the appetite for these physical artifacts of history remains incredibly healthy. Collectors today are not just buying paper and ink, they are acting as custodians of 20th-century cultural history.

A Uniquely European Discovery
This 90,000-book hoard, unearthed in a Stockholm basement, is almost certainly the most comprehensive collection ever discovered outside the United States. Valued between £3m and £4m, the archive represents the life’s work of a single, devoted collector. Many of these issues have remained unseen for decades.
Working alongside our partners at Comics Heaven to bring this archive to market has been an immense privilege. It is doubtful we will ever see a discovery of this magnitude in Europe again. We are elated with the "Part One" results, but with 55,000 unique titles still to explore, this is only the beginning.
We are already preparing for the next sale—and you can expect something truly special.
