Description

Welcome to Our January 2025 Stamps & Covers of the World Auction. We are delighted to begin our 2025 philatelic auctions calendar with a wonderful two-day sale featuring over 1,200 exceptional lots from across the world. The auction opens with a strong section of Great Britain, leading into an outstanding offering from Canada, headlined by the iconic and rare 1851 12d Black - a true gem of classic philately and a proud feature on the front cover of this catalogue. A dedicated and comprehensive section of Ceylon with concentration on the classic Queen Victoria issues, followed by Ceylon Telegraphs including a stunning Appendix Sheet from the De La Rue Archives. Followed by a fine array of India and Indian States; highlights include remarkable rarities from Las Bela with essays and proof material, a broad collection of Soruth and Poonch, just to name a few. The second day commences with an impressive section of Malaya Survey Department Essays, Turks Islands, followed by a particularly strong offering of Revenue stamps. The auction concludes with our ever popular Collections and Ranges, providing excellent opportunities for collectors to expand their collections. This auction really has something for every collector, from seasoned enthusiasts to those just starting their philatelic journey. We look forward to welcoming you to SGB for this exciting start to the 2025 philatelic season!
