Description
Morocco, Cast Æ Uniface Obverse & Reverse Medal Plaquettes. Unsigned, dated AH 1333 = AD 1915. Possibly the trial for a medal issued to Moroccan soldiers based in France during the First World War.
Obverse: Arabic inscription in five lines: "with whose blood was written on the battlefields the pact of brotherhood between the French people and the people of the Western West (Morocco)..." within ornate cartouche with floral design above and below / Blank. 295.55g, 141mm.
Reverse: Blank / Arabic inscription from the Qur'an III, 126 and dates within six-pointed star: "And victory is not except from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise"; all within ornate cartouche decorated with six lotus flowers and linear outer border. 356.44g, 138mm.
Almost Uncirculated. Exceedingly Rare, most probably unique.
