1945 (Sept ?) printed sugar ration 'card' sent through the post, with 1942-47 1a pale yellow-green perf 8½-9 (pos. 1 on pane, imperforate at top) tied by violet circular postmark, with 1a rose fiscal (uncancelled, spike hole) applied at upper left. XXX Italics please - This represents apparently the earliest recorded date for SG 4. Part I gives 1946, but it has always seemed likely to be an earlier printing than SG 5, for which 1945 usage has aready been recorded XXX
