1943 (25 Apr) registered piece with 1939-46 ¼a yellow-orange perf 11 x 2 (one defective), ½a carmine-vermilion (Die I) perf 11 vertical pair, and 4a brown perf 10½, tied by fine and very fine strikes of VIOLET cds, with black on white perforated registration label at centre. The piece with soiling, and creasing (affecting ¼a and ½a stamps), still a spectacular and rare franking at 5½a double rate (2½a postage + 3a registration), the 4a stamp a really fine example.
