Russia , Nicholas II (1894-1917), silver Gangut Battle Commemorative Rouble, 1914, initials BC, Gangut Battle Anniversary 1714-1914, St. Petersburg, 19.98g (Bit. 337; KM Y71). Good Very Fine, scratches and marks to surfaces. Please note that this coin will not grade due to surface marks. Extremely rare. Commemorating the 200th anniversary of the victory by the Russian Navy at the Battle of Gangut. Featuring the portrait of Peter I, this is one of the most popular commemorative Roubles across the entire series. Mintage of 30,300 pieces.

The Battle of Gangut took place on 7th August 1714 during the Great Northern War (1700–21), in the waters of Riilahti Bay, north of the Hanko Peninsula, near the modern city of Hanko, Finland, between the Swedish Navy and Imperial Russian Navy. It was the first important victory of the Russian fleet in its history.
