Footnote
This one and a half and one Rouble were struck to commemorate the unveiling of the Battle of Borodino monument. The battle happened during Napoleonic invasion and allowed the French to take Moscow and advance. The Russians suffered about 45,000 casualties. Although badly hurt, the Russian army eventually drove Napoleon out of Russia. This is one of the most popular commemorative coins from the reign of Nicholas I.
