Description
1892 ½d Vermilion ‘Jubilee’. Fine used example tied to a printed firm's parcel label by a London cds for JY.20.1892, addressed to Godalming with an arrival cds on reverse for the following day.
The reverse of the label has a complete message which begins with "Am ending this to see if it travels safe being, I think an improvement on post cards". The Post Office didn't seem to agree as the face was stamped with an "Of the nature of a Letter/S.W." handstamp and charged 1d postage due. Small, prior to use tear in adhesive nevertheless a most unusual item. Offered with three additional covers two of which are printed advertising envelopes/wrappers. SG197. (4).
