Description
C.1878 DLR Fugitive ink "Appendix" sheet (184x310mm). Sheet bearing eighteen adhesives split into single and double fugitive ink groups. Nine postage stamps at top (3x SG143 Pl.19, 3x SG147, Pl.15 & 3x SG150, Pl.13) endorsed above “Stamps printed in singly fugitive ink” below consisting of another group of nine (3x 1d Fiscal, 6x Electric Telegraph Company labels) endorsed “Stamps printed in doubly fugitive inks”. First column of six as standards, the second column “Obliterated by printing and treated with benzine” and the final column endorsed “Obliterated by writing and then treated with oxalic acid”. A spectacular sheet showing the enhanced safety features of fugitive inks.
