1882 1s Purple Pl.14. Unused example lettered CF perforated line perf 14. Originally printed in this colour for the surcharged unified issue, however the Telegraph branch objected to the 1s value which was subsequently cancelled before issue. All examples originate from a small portion of the imprimatur sheet which was perforated line perf 14 and included in the souvenir albums for members of the "Stamp Committee of 1884" having been stuck in these albums all examples show only small portions of the original gum. Very rare only 36 books were produced, not all of which included the 1s purple. Spec. K8C. Cat. £15,000.
