1872 10d Die proof (Type C, amended). A wonderful Die proof in red-brown on glazed card with plate number circles painted by hand at top and the bottom plate number circles erased lettered GH-HG. Produced for a proposed design with coloured corner letters, the issue being finally abandoned when the value was withdrawn due to a change in postal rates. Rare. Ex. DLR Archives. Cat £9,000.
