Like many philatelists, he caught the collecting bug from his father who was a life long stamp collector focused primarily on King George VI Commonwealth stamps. The collection was started in the early 1980s with a focus on Nevis, following his honeymoon there with his wife. It was then gradually expanded to cover the whole of King George V Commonwealth. The Hay Morgan collection is now one of the most complete King George V Commonwealth collections ever assembled and contains almost every mint Commonwealth stamp issued during King George V’s reign including most of the major errors, many plate examples, important proofs, numerous sets and stamps in blocks, as well as some rare covers. Very useful collection on stock pages, commences with 1914 Red Cross label followed by 1915 and 1916 Red Cross 1d plate blocks of 4, then a splendid range of War Tax issues as plate blocks plus various errors and varieties incl 1917 (Oct) 1d opt inverted block of 4 (2016 BPA cert), 1918 (Jan) 1d opt inverted, and 1918 (Feb) ½d block of 15 with misplaced opt, cond varies but much is fine large part o.g. to o.g., viewing recommended.
