Description
1935 (6 MA) cover to England, franked on reverse by 1935 Silver Jubilee 1pi ultramarine, tied by black ‘retta’ and ‘ABU QIR' cds on FIRST DAY OF ISSUE, with Alexandria transit cds for the same day above, the face with crowned ‘EGYPT / 13 / POSTAGE PREPAID’ handstamp in red and despatch cds at left, trivial blemishes still fine and rare. SG A10.
Footnote
The 6th of May was a service holiday in Egypt, and service post boxes were cleared only once (in the morning) at most stations on that day. Many letters bearing the Jubilee seals, although posted on the 6th, were consequently not postmarked until the 7th.
