Description
The Merren - Hogg Correspondence and related postal history. This primarily relates to correspondence between Theo Hogg (a Northern Irish minister stationed to Grand Cayman in the 1930s) and Veta Merren (the latter being the daughter of the largest merchant in Georgetown). The collection is mounted on pages for display and tells the story of their courtship by mail during WWII. The covers are also interesting from a postal history aspect as many are censored and the rates genuine as they are not philatelically inspired. Five have Cayman Islands censor marks or labels, and eight with manuscript "OK" marks. Excellent lot for the collector interested in social history (27 covers, 4 letters)
