Graham Land. 1824 entire used in England from Greenham to Cumberland, signed at base by James Graham, after whom Graham Land was named. Minor faults, as to be expected from an item of this age, still a fine item for the serious collector

Sir James Graham (1792-1861) was a Whig politician who had a distinguished career, holding numerous offices including Home Secretary and First Lord of the Admiralty. He held the latter office at the time of John Biscoe's exploration of Graham Land in 1832, and that part of the Atlantic Peninsula was named in hi honour
