Very fine opened up registered envelope (type RP2) sent from Cork to London with a 1d Rose -red (SG43, Pl.193) tied by a Cork ‘156’ duplex for JA.1.1878 with further strike on the 2d registration die on reverse. A very rare registered usage on the first day of the 2d registration fee offered with a GPO circular regarding the rate change and the new 2d Registered envelope. Rare.
