Description
1945-51 counter-coils collection in two very full boxed Philatelic albums, by some considerable margin the finest collection of these issues we have seen. Every type of rubber and machine number is represented, often with multiple duplicates and usually from 1-19, with more leaders and ends than this describer has seen in the past 40 years. Includes thick/thin/pelure paper combinations; 1d with pencil number (as for Pictorials); many double numbers; M6az eleven pairs; MC2az two pairs; MC1dz two sets; MC2cz; 6d with red handstamped number, believed to be unique; 6d with part printed machine ‘19’ with ‘19’ handstamp added; 8d part machine 16 with pencil ‘16’ added; 9d and 1/- tête-bêche pairs; MC2n x nine pairs, broken numbers, pre-printing paper creases and some identified forgeries. To give an idea of quantity, there are 166 2d coil pairs with handstamped numbers plus 7 leaders/ends, and 141 pairs with machine-printed numbers plus 6 leaders/ends; and 1/3ds 90 pairs plus ten leaders/ends.
