Footnote
The Chin Hills were not successfully occupied by the Japanese until the Imphal offensive of March 1944. The area remained in British hands until then. Service stamps ran out in the summer of 1942 and authority was given to use ordinary stamps. A runner service was established between Falam and Aijal in Assam. Genuine surviving covers are rare
