Hello and welcome to the sale catalogue for my coin collection which Stanley Gibbons Baldwin’s have been so kind to put together on my behalf.&nbsp;I have been an avid collector of English coins since my earliest recollections. I started out the usual way by sorting through my mother’s change in the hopes of finding collectible pieces, pennies mostly – of course my definition of “collectible” was very different back then and was very loosely defined. However, around 40 years or so ago my career had progressed to the point where I could begin to afford to indulge my hobby in a more focused manner and so I began visiting coin shops, buying from fixed price mailing lists (remember this all started in the nineteen eighties!), attending trade shows and auctions in person and bidding in online auctions. Over time my interests evolved and they progressed to include both hammered and milled crowns, hammered and milled half crowns, copper pennies and then later, to the silver coinage of the English civil war’s Commonwealth period, when we were briefly a republic.&nbsp;It is now time for some of these pieces to find new homes in the hope that their new owners also enjoy the beauty and craftsmanship which English coins exhibit. King on horseback left, crowned and armoured, with flowing sash, holding sword and rein, plume behind, no groundline, Rev. Declaration in two straight lines separated by pellet, three plumes and denomination above, date below, 119.94g/7h. (Morr. A‐4; N. 2361; S. 2917). Very Fine for issue, iridescent gold‐blue toning. Obverse double‐struck. Slight crack to edge at 7h, most likely formed during the striking process.
