DISASTER MAIL: 1898 envelope from New South Wales to England franked by NSW 1d (3), tied by numerals and Wahroonga cds for FE 24, carried aboard the ''S.S. China'' which ran around on Azalea Point, Perim Island in the Red Sea due to thick fog. Face bearing London arrival mark for AP 6, and later forwarded to France incurring 4d tax and payment denoted by French 10c & 30c Postage Dues tied by Menton cds for AP 8, backstamped by appropriate transit and arrival markings, very rare, with this item being only one of three items of mails recorded!
