1937 unclaimed and much travelled registered cover to New Zealand, addressed to the 'Saloon Dining Room Steward on board RMS Makura' between Wellington and San Francisco, bearing 4d orange, Whale and Penguin issue tied by Port Stanley cds 'FE 27/37' apparently carried on the 'Lafonia', with type 6c registration label, the original address pasted over with hand-stamped label to the Cooks and Stewards Union, Wellington. Various 'UNCLAIMED' and 'RETURN TO SENDER' marks, apparently never reaching the addressee before return to the Falkland islands. A most remarkable and unusual cover.
