Description
1899 (Nov 6) 'Appendix B' sheet (163x290mm) from the De La Rue archives, with ten imperforate colour trials of the Pahang 3c 'tiger head' (as Pahang SG 14), each with keyplates in dull purple but duties in ten different colours, and each with 'FEDERATED/MALAY STATES' opt as type 1 (with bar, but showing 'TE' of 'FEDERATED' joined). The dull purple and black trial (at upper left) endorsed 'E.E.B./8.11.99' in M/S alongside, indicating the colours actually adopted for the 1900 3c opt on Negri Sembilan. Light horizontal and vertical folds (not affecting the trials), but lovely fresh condition, with full M/S heading (date and requisition number). A unique and magnificent item, ex RL 23/11/76, lot 1271.
