POSTAL HISTORY: 1800s to 1902 local covers. We note pre-stamp envelope with violet h/s, 1898-1900 ½a black on greyish blue (7, two strips of three and single) on front, tied by cds and pen strokes, 1902 envelope franked by ½a black on pale-grey and 1a black on orange pair, with evidence of a third which has been removed (!), mixed condition with the latter a very rare franking.
