Forty-seventh Balloon of the Siege: 1870 entire letter to Argentan and re-addressed to St. Brieuc, Brittany, franked by Napoleon III 20c Empire tied by Star mark with Paris Place de la Bourse cds for 21 Dec, carried by the Balloon 'Lavoisier' which departed Paris on 22 Dec, backstamped with transit and St. Brieuc arrival mark for 25 Dec, Christmas Day, very fine. Offered with an English translation of the contents, a letter from a husband to his wife expressing his grief that he could not be with them at Christmas.
