Collection formed by a member of the Antarctic “Discovery Investigations” Expedition on board the HMS Scorsby, includes 1930 (circa) OHMS ‘Discovery’ Expedition cover sent from the Falklands Islands to the Natural History Museum, group of later correspondence from the Falklands to the UK, of note 1968 cover with “Carried on Hovercraft SRN6” handstamp. Red Simplex Album with stamps and covers 1883-1964: 1898 2s6d and 5s (mint), 1933 set to 2s6d, 1938 values to £1 (used), 1952 values to £1 (used), 1960 set to £1 on covers (6) cancelled with Fox Bay CDS on first day of issue. Also some pages with Australia and New Zealand, we note 1948 registered cover from Macquarie Island with cachet “Australian National Antarctic Research Expedition 1947” to the Natural History Museum, London. Mixed condition but an intriguing lot with many interesting pieces.
