Description
1926 (April - May) 2/- booklets (#37-8). A sequence of booklets, showing a chain of events necessitated by a mistake in the advertisement interleaving for the first 500,000 of #37;
1/. #37 Voucher copy with the incorrect interleaf ('Acousticon'), each pane with violet cancellation dated 16 Apr. INCORRECT MAKEUP written on the outside, evidently by the advertising agents responsible, Sells
2/. #37 Empty booklet (cover scuffing), no stamps, incorrect interleaf
3/. #37 Voucher copy with correct interleaf ('Ardente', from the second 500,000), each pane with violet cancellations of 29 Apr
4/. #37 Voucher copy with correct interleaf, each stamp with CANCELLED overprint
5/. #37 Display book (i.e. made up without stamps), correct interleaf. CORRECT MAKEUP on front cover, matching the lettering on 1/.
6/. #38 'compensatory' advertiser's voucher copy, with 'Ardente' interleaf, from the first 500,000 run, each stamp overprinted CANCELLED, handstamped 11 MAY 1926 on front cover
7/. #38 voucher copy with 'Acousticon' interleaf, as intended for this edition, each stamp overprinted CANCELLED, handstamped 11 MAY 1926 on front cover
An interesting sequence, as purchased from Harry Nissen in 1957. Each has some reasonably neat selvedge adhering to the back cover, presumably from being mounted at some stage
