1962 5/- Patrol in a complete unfolded sheet of 60 with sheet number in red at bottom right. Fine & fresh MUH. This was the first Australian printed multicoloured stamp prepared for release in 1962 but withdrawn before public issue because of the intervention of the PNG Stamp Advisory Committee who felt that design showing rifles being carried was less than desirable due to past conflicts involving the Highland tribes. This is indeed a rare survivor with no complete sheets recorded since 1982. Current retail in Australia is $750 per stamp (A$45,000 - £24,000) but obviously with a significant premium in this format.
