1840 1d Mulready Lettersheet (Forme 6, Stereo A238). Very fine used example sent from Mayfield to Skippers Hill cancelled solely and contrary to regulations by a black Mayfield/Penny Post handstamp with no other postal markings on reverse. The parent office to Mayfield where a Maltese cross would have been applied is Uckfield, however Skippers Hill lies between the two towns and the cover would have been delivered en route, bypassing the parent office. Very rare. Ex. "Mayflower" 2010 BPA Cert.
