Description
KGV Revenue Key type: 1914-23 group of 28 unappropriated master die proofs on glazed card denominated 1d to £50, with three additional original Head die proofs all handstamped “CANCELLED” in red reading diagonally upwards, affixed to pages (220x355mm) from the proof book presented to Royal Mint engraver H.A. Richardson on his retirement (at which point the red handstamp was applied), each annotated below with their Royal Mint die number. Page 1 bears the 2d-15s values, the 1d-8s values removed from the reverse side and affixed to a facsimile of page 2 for display, with the £1-£50 high values displayed on the original page 3. A unique and spectacular group of the highest importance, these issues utilised for most government departments for the entirety of KGV’s reign.
