1897 O.H.T.M.S. long envelope addressed to New Zealand tied by clear double framed 'PACKET BOAT' mark, addressed, signed and dated "13th May 1897" by Chief Postmaster William Campbell, the reverse with 'Auckland 16 Oct' transit and 'N.Z.R.P.O.-WN 19 Oct' arrival cds, due the length of time in transit, it supposed to have been dispatched on a ship bound to San Francisco then redirected to NZ, a rare example of early maritime mail, Ex Baxendale
