POSTAL HISTORY: 1878-1904 selection of covers/postcards to members of the Gilmer family including 1879 "TWO CENTS" claret postcard, thinner card (H&G2a), tied with barred '16' (Rose Belle) numeral obliterator, rectangular "CARRIER/2/17/AU/86" marking in black at left, 1886 envelope (opened out) registered locally bearing 1878 surcharged 'SIX CENTS' on 2d, horizontal pair, tied by 'B32' oval numeral obliterator, 1887 mourning envelope bearing 16c and circular yellow label bearing 8c (defective), 1890 entire bearing 1883-94 16c tied by neat 'B53' duplex, 1891 envelope registered bearing 8c, 16c. Also Revenues mainly on piece with 1869 1d (3), 4d (2 and a pair), 6d (2, both in combination with 1/3d), 1/3d (3), 6/8d (5, all on one piece), 16/8d (in combination 1/8d) and 1878 new currency 5c (2), 10c (in combination with 25c), 15c, 25c (3) and 65c.
