1884 1/- brown "National Telephone Company", right hand marginal block of four showing variety imperf between horizontally. Full unmounted o.g. ( mounted onnly in margin), fine and scarce. [The National Telephone Company stamps bearing the portrait of Colonal Robert Raynsford Jackson (Chairman of the National Telephone Company) caused considerable offence at the time of issue due to the omission of the portrait of Queen Victoria and were officially withdrawn from use in 1891 at the request of the Post Master-General.]
