1849 Registered large cover from London to Ellesmere (Shropshire) bearing 2d Blue (Pl.3  T,K) four good margins, paying the double rate, cancelled by a London City "10" numeral and additionally London "PAID" cds for 18.MY.1849 in red. Manuscript "Registered" in both red and black, alongside a manuscript "6" in red indicating the 6d registration fee paid in cash. Ellesmere arrival cds dated 19.MY.1849 and an indistinct receieving house mark in green at right. Vertical crease at right of cover and slight perihperal ageing, adhesive unaffected. Nonetheless a fine item. SG 14
