INDIA USED ABROAD: c.1870-1880s India used in Pondicherry (French India), 'East India' assortment of values all cancelled by type 17 ''PONDICHERRY M-19'' duplex arranged by value on Hagner page, used on small to large piece, including: ½a (Die II), 1a, 2a, 4a (Die II), 8a (Die II) and 1r slate. Paying various inland and foreign rates. The majority of these stamps have been removed from mail addressed to Mauritius, as evident by few examples bearing Mauritius arrival marks. Condition variable, with fine. An interesting lot well worth closer examination and study.     SG 58-79
