1840 (8 Jan) entire addressed to Edinburgh used just prior to the end of the experimental period, front bearing handstruck "4", most unusual as most letters during this period ''4'' was done in manuscript. Reverse bearing Inverness dispatch mark dated JAN 8, and Edinburgh arrival mark dated JAN 9 1840, the last day of the Fourpenny Postage rate. Filing creases as often seen, barely detracts, an important item in the story of uniform postage.
