3c Rose Centered to top right, on cover addressed to New York cancelled by extremely rare "Oil Barrel" fancy cancel, alongside 'OIL CITY PA. Nov. 13' cds, cover has small part of back flap missing and a couple of filing vertical creases that don't effect stamp, nevertheless a clear strike of this attractive fancy cancel. After the first oil wells were drilled in 1859 by Col. Drake in nearby Titusville Oil City became a central town to the petroleum industry.
