1883 (28 Aug) 2ct colour trial in deep violet, wmk CA (reversed), perf 12, with some original gum. Prepared for the 'universal colour scheme', in the colour subsequently adopted for the 1885 8c value. Minor perf toning but extremely rare. BPA cert (2003).
