Safat covers. 1958-9 envelopes (6), four with Type 38 cancels, two with 'AM' above date, one to UK and one to German (intended for internal use only). The cover to Germany bears 1np - 25np values, the 15np being on the 2½d Type II, a rarity on cover. 1959 (30 JAN) reg. cover to London bearing 4a (2) and 12a, oval 'Independent'-style canceller, the only example seen by the owner on GB opts; the reg. etiquette originally Mabarakya Street, altered to Safat in biro. Also a 7 FE 59 airmail cover from Safat to UK with 20np Sheikh and 40np Dhow together with 40np on GB 6d, cancelled by subtype 'A' datestamps, demonstrating that the overprints on GB were briefly accepted after the changeover.
