1841 1d red-brown Plate14, attractive entire letter from Liverpool to Oldenberg, Bremen bearing two pairs, a vertical strip of three and a single, prepaying the 8d per ½oz ship letter rate, each stamp cancelled by a black MC, endorsed "p. Hull & Hamburg Steamer via Cuxhaven" with a "HULL/SHIP LETTER" handstamp (Robertson S9), Liverpool dispatch cds (16.7) and Hamburg arrival cds (20.7) on reverse. Originally a much smaller entire with the stamps partly affixed over the edges of the cover which has since been refolded with some sympathetic restoration to the adhesives and MC, nevertheless a very early and rare foreign destination cover.
