1865 Seamans letter posted from H.M.S Galatea at Bermuda to London redirected upon arrival bearing 1d. red-brown (lettered BJ) tied by 'A97' obliterator, reverse bearing London receiving marks dated MY 9 65, tears to opening flap, age related wear nevertheless an interesting and scarce item with original contents enclosed, letting his family know that he is safe after having been shipwrecked "Maria tells me that mother was completely cut up when she read the news about our ship being lost so you can see I'am still amongst the living".
