Kedah; Bedong.  1942 cover with Kedah 2ct overprinted DAI NIppon 2602, Bedong cancellation Type JD2 and 16 SEP dater, watery violet censor chop.  On reverse, Alor Star Type JD2 transit and Kulim Type JD2 arrival.  Envelope slightly soiled and with a light crease.

The envelope is addressed to Tunku Abdul Rahman, who is revered as the father of Malaysian Independence, at Kulim.  One of the forty-five children of Sultan Abdul Hamid Halimshah of Kedah, he was an able and popular administrator.  In 1931 he was Assistant District Officer at Kulim, and was appointed District Officer after the war's outbreak
